Romantic Gifts For Valentines Day

After about a million failed and/or backfired extravagant plans for valentines day which involved my kids running for cover to escape my temper tantrums and my other wise red neck husband being reduced to a timid man saying ‘Yes Dear’ for half of February, I’ve decided to take it a bit calmer on my nerves. Any and all Valentines Day plans will revolve around valentines dinner, which I will cook at home. My husband and I will buy each other one gift with the stipulation that I had better like what I get or hell will be raised.

We take the kids to see an early movie and then I drop them off at my mother who hasn’t had any plans for Valentines Day since my parents divorced. Then I set to slaving over the stove to make the perfect valentines dinner for the two of us. Personally I think it keeps the Valentines shopping and spending reasonable and my husband doesn’t wreck the house in his attempts at creating a nice romantic atmosphere (complete with a snow machine). I usually get a gift like Valentines Day chocolate or Valentines heart candy which I think is okay but far from being original or romantic. My husband doesn’t get that I like romantic gifts for Valentines Day; he just thinks pink and chocolate should do the trick. He does have strokes of genius occasionally, like the year he bought me a fruit bouquet on Valentines Day. It was absolutely gorgeous and delicious. The fruit was covered in chocolate and there was pineapple cut into heart shapes. I just loved it! It was one of the few memorable valentines day gifts that I would love to see repeated.
